So You Want to Be a "Transformational" Leader?
what a transformation entails, and how to go about it
Speech Abstract
What can a leader do to transform an organization?
Hire and inspire talented people? That will certainly improve performance. But if the organization isn't designed to succeed, you could just move in the wrong directions faster.
How about leading a major strategic initiative? You'll deliver significant benefits. But however beneficial it may be, one project is not itself a transformation.
Maybe you could restructure the organization chart? If it's done based on principles, that can be a powerful force for change. But that's just one component of a transformation.
A real transformation leaves the legacy of an organization designed from the ground up to succeed at all its myriad missions. It's efficient, reliable, innovative, strategic, customer focused, empowered, and more.
In short, it's the supplier of choice to its internal and external customers, and the employer of choice to its staff.
If this is what you want to do, the path forward is clear. This session will define what a real transformation entails; tell the story of a transformational leader and his strategy to illustrate how to go about it; and suggest practical next steps.
