Symptom: People don't perceive a chance to get ahead, i.e., a rewarding career path.

Career rotations are motivational, enhance mutual understanding and teamwork, and broaden people's skills and knowledge, preparing them for more senior positions.
Whether technical or managerial, people need to feel that their career paths are viable. They need to see a next job for them in the organization. If career paths for many types of people: technical, operational (Service Bureau) management, and business management -- are not clearly perceived, motivation will be seriously reduced.


Symptom: People may not know that they have to take the initiative with regard to their own professional development.

Symptom: The organization does not provide a viable career path for technical professionals.

Symptom: People don't know how to plan their careers.
