Symptom: Supervisors believe that people are not able to succeed without their detailed management.

Supervisors (at any level) may feel they must get involved in every detail to get products out the door. They fear that is they do not, everything will go wrong (or go nowhere). If they're right, the cause may be that people are incompetent. Or it may be that competent people have not been given the chance to show their abilities, having to turn to the boss whenever authority is needed to get things done.


Symptom: People are incompetent.

Symptom: People have not been given the authority they need to manage on their own.
