Symptom: The (internal) Sales (client liaison) function exists, but clients don't know where in the organization to go for business advice.

Strategic value will suffer if clients don't know who their point of contact in the organization is. If an internal client liaison (Sales) function exists, but it is underutilized by its clients, a lack of client awareness is indicated. This may indicate the lack of marketing function.


Another (more generic) way to state the problem is as follows:
Symptom: The marketing function is not sufficiently effective.
