Symptom: People miss internal commitments in order to be more responsive to external clients.
People may mistakenly believe that clients are more important than peers. Of course, by disappointing a peer, you indirectly disappoint your peer's client. So a client is hurt either way. Meanwhile, peers will not trust you and teamwork will break down.
Internal commitments are every bit as important as external client commitments. If this is not clear, the culture needs attention.
