If people do not have a common culture and patterns of working together, teamwork will suffer and people will feel isolated and disconnected.
Clear and actionable statements about the culture should be authored by the leadership team. If the desired culture is clear but not yet established, then such statements will help spread the word. If the desired culture is not clear, then it must be defined.
Once culture is clearly defined, it must be taught, reinforced, modeled, and mentored. Over time, culture will become transparent -- "just the way we work around here."
